Bonsai Trees & Plants
Talk about the many trees and plants used in Bonsai. Maples, Pines, Junipers and more here

Hi, I see seeds on a very nice japanese maple near my house. When would be a good time to collect some seeds to grow? I have tried earlier this month planting some seeds I picked but they did not grow. I am reading about refrigerating the seeds, maybe that what I need to do? Please help, thanks!

Hi Carla, I would say October would be the best time to collect seeds, or, when they start to turn brown and fall off the tree in your area, usually happens in the fall season. Then collect the seeds and put them in a plastic sealable bag and place them in the fridge. In several months, hopefully sometime in the spring they will begin to sprout on their own and you can then pot them up. HTH.
